What TruNorth Solar Offers (Hint: Not Just Solar Panel Installation)
Locally Rooted, Customer-Centric Service
Our family-owned, locally operated company (located in Arden Hills, MN) has been helping our neighbors go solar since 2010. TruNorth Solar strives to be honest, transparent, and offer the very best experience, whether we’re installing a new system, adding onto a current one, or servicing your existing system.
Done-for-You Permits, Incentives, and Paperwork
When starting a solar project or needing service, it can be daunting to navigate the solar permitting process, incentives, warranties, or other paperwork required to properly install or service your solar energy system. Our team handles all of this paperwork for you to help make the process as seamless as possible. We can also help you navigate financing options and maintain warranty compliance.
Re-Roof and Pre-Installation Roof Prep
Your solar panels are designed to stay in place for decades, so your roof should be up to the task. If you do need a new roof before your panels are installed, or a re-roof due to storm damage or the like, we offer services to help with the replacement. We want to help ensure the structural integrity and longevity of your solar energy system for decades to come.
Battery Storage Solutions
Your energy needs don’t stop when the sun goes down or when the power goes out, which is why we offer solar battery storage solutions. Battery storage can help you stay up and running when the grid is down, even during severe weather. When the weather’s fine, you can send your extra energy back to the grid for credits on your utility bill.
Life-of-System Service, Maintenance Support, and Troubleshooting
Our service department can provide ongoing maintenance, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and support for the life of your system. This applies whether we originally installed your system or not. Monitoring and servicing your system as needed will help ensure maximum energy production, maintain warranty compliance, keep you and your family safe, and make sure your system works optimally through all of Minnesota’s seasons for reliable, long-term performance.
Preparation for Minnesota Weather and Snow Care Tips
Speaking of seasons, Minnesota obviously experiences a wide range of weather conditions, and TruNorth Solar can help with any maintenance or service issues to ensure your system is well-prepared to handle extreme weather, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
Although solar panels are actually very efficient on cold days, right now during winter, we are seeing less sunlight and more snowfall, and therefore, less production. This is completely normal (and one of the ways Minnesotans can benefit from Net Metering)!
And yes, if your panels are snow-covered, that could cause a drop in production. But, the good news is that most times snow will melt right off of your panels since they’re dark, which helps them warm up fast, causing the snow to slide off once the sun appears.
If it doesn’t and you’d like to purchase a soft brush made specifically for this reason, check with us or find a recommended product on Amazon, for example. Remember, to remove snow from your panels, you should never use metal tools, shovels, hard bristle brushes, hot or cold water, or other hard tools to try to break up the snow. And, please, never get on a slippery or unsafe roof to clear your panels.
